Colony Loss Hits 1.6 Million, Our Response

New data from one of the largest surveys ever conducted in the beekeeping industry reports 1.6 million colonies have been lost since last summer — a historic amount.

Right now, there is tremendous pressure on honey bees and those who manage them. Many beekeeping businesses are struggling to survive due to lost revenue and the high expense of replacing lost colonies. More broadly, the entire agricultural economy faces disruption with a lack of sufficient pollinators.

To our beekeepers: We are with you. Whether you want access to our community and resources, seek guidance on next steps, or require new equipment as you recover and expand your operation, we are here to help however we can.

To everyone: We encourage you to keep raising awareness by sharing this data with your own network and with your local, state, and national representatives.

And, of course, buy local honey.
